The 2022 AANA/RJOS Specialty Day will be held on March 26, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. The day will begin with opening remarks from Dr. Mark H. Getelman, the President of AANA, and co-chairs Dr. Brian R. Waterman and Dr. Mary K. Mulcahey. The first session will focus on knee ligament ACL and will include talks on risk factors for ACL injury, management of ACL injury in skeletally-immature athletes, and the use of synthetic scaffolds and biologic augmentation for ACL repair. A debate will also be held on ACL graft choice for elite female athletes. The second session will cover topics related to meniscus and cartilage, including the clinical management of chondral defects, treatment of unstable ramp lesions, and meniscal root repairs. The third session will focus on patellofemoral issues, with talks on risk factors and workup for patellofemoral instability, as well as surgical strategies for addressing different forms of patellofemoral pathology. The fourth session will cover topics related to the hip, including the incorporation of hip outcomes into practice, arthroscopic approaches for femoroacetabular impingement, and treatment options for hip instability/dysplasia. The fifth session will focus on diversity and inclusion in orthopedics, with talks on the history of the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society and discussions of implicit bias and imposter syndrome. The day will conclude with sessions on shoulder instability, AANA innovations, and shoulder/rotator cuff issues. The program will include lectures, panel discussions, and case discussions led by leading experts in the field. Please note that the faculty and schedule are subject to change.
