Video Summary
In this video presentation, Dr. Michael Banfield discusses a study comparing outcomes of accelerated versus conservative rehabilitation protocols following arthroscopic surgery for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). The study aimed to investigate if the accelerated protocol resulted in similar patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and increased complications compared to the conservative protocol. Data was collected from hip arthroscopy cases performed between April 2018 and March 2021. The results indicated that both protocols led to significant improvement in PROs, with no significant differences between the two protocols. The accelerated protocol allowed for earlier weight-bearing and was preferred by patients. The study concluded that the accelerated protocol is a viable option with similar outcomes to the conservative protocol.
