Video Summary
The video demonstrates cartilage resurfacing of defects on the medial femoral condyle and trochlea using multiple implants. After obtaining wide exposure, the surgeon positions each guide perpendicular and flush to the cartilage surface. The defect is drilled, reamed, shaped, cleaned, and trimmed before a biphasic implant is press-fit with its porous cartilage surface facing outward. Implants should sit slightly recessed, be surrounded by healthy cartilage, and remain at least five millimeters apart. Treating defects in multiple compartments may help active patients with early disease avoid total knee replacement.
