Video Summary
The purpose of this study was to assess the risk of damage to the popliteal neurovascular bundle during all inside suturing of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to simulate the trajectory of the suturing device and measure the distance between the meniscus and the neurovascular bundle. The study found that all inside suturing at zero millimeters from the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is safest when using the more lateral portal. However, beyond three millimeters from the PCL, a more medial portal is a safer option. Preoperative MRI assessment can help in selecting the appropriate portal for repair. Young and female patients have a shorter distance between the meniscus and the neurovascular bundle.
