Video Summary
In this video, the presenter discusses the results of a study on patients who underwent a primary MPFL reconstruction surgery. The study aimed to determine the rate of return to sport and activity levels after the surgery, as well as the reasons why some patients did not resume their pre-operative activity levels. The study involved a retrospective chart review of 44 knees over a 10-year period, with follow-ups and surveys administered to each patient. The results showed that 72% of the cohort returned to at least a sport, but only 40% were able to return to their pre-injury level. Factors such as age and concomitant tibial tubercle osteotomy were found to influence post-operative activity levels, while fear and other life factors were the main reasons for not returning to sport. No significant associations were found with graft type or processing method.
