The study used retrospective data from the ACGME to evaluate surgical volume from 2007 to 2017. Results showed a significant increase in the median number of logged shoulder and knee arthroscopy cases from 2007 to 2013. However, there was a decline in case logs from 2013 onwards, after the implementation of minimum case requirements. The decline may be due to residents meeting the minimum and pursuing other cases or ceasing to log their cases altogether. The study suggests further research is needed to determine the impact of minimum case requirements on arthroscopy skill education in residency.
