Course Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Learn the most advanced arthroscopic instability repair surgery techniques utilizing didactic lectures, live demonstrations and cadaver lab training to cover the management of soft tissue and bony causes of shoulder instability.
  2. Master arthroscopic management of rotator cuff disease, from basic mobilization and fixation techniques to advanced tendon transfers and superior capsular reconstruction using dermal allograft.
  3. Grasp the latest shoulder arthroplasty techniques, including anatomic and reverse prostheses, in the management of shoulder arthritis with and without glenoid deformity.
  4. Become familiar with the complications of arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery and the latest methods to identify and manage untoward outcomes of surgery.
  5. Understand the variety of treatment options for proximal humerus fractures and when to employ each option.
Target Audience

The primary target audience for Shoulder Lab Course is AANA members and other healthcare professionals who desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self-Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA planning committees and membership.
